SERVPRO Experts Prepare for Reconstruction After Massive Casa Grande Fire
A widespread fire in this Casa Grande home left a great deal of unsalvageable damage. Our approach as a company has and continues to be restoration before reconstruction, but some instances make this mentality impossible. Such was the case with this massive structure fire that claimed this house, and upon assessment, needed to be demolished down to its preserved slab for reconstruction ultimately.
The blaze began in a common room of the house and quickly spread to neighboring areas. It traveled through the attic space of the home, causing considerable damage to the roof and ceilings throughout the residence. Upon our initial assessment, our SERVPRO professionals understood that much of the construction materials would need to get removed and ultimately replaced, but considered the structure to be salvageable once it got stripped back to studs and framework.
Once controlled demolition began within the house, it quickly got discovered that “the wall integrity and studs were not there” as our SERVPRO crew chief, Austin Bailey, explains in the video. The only solution then was to demolish the structure entirely and return it to the slab foundation to prepare the site for the reconstruction of the home. This approach still required a great deal of clean up and material removal, offering the residential contractor to follow the ideal starting point to begin rebuilding.
While no homeowner wants to contend with the complete reconstruction of their home, the preserved slab underneath the house allowed this to be a possibility. As much as our technicians seek to restore before we reconstruct, there are instances like this where damage is too severe to overcome effectively and without overly costly measures.
